Overpowered Pest Drops

There has been near-constant discussion about how overpowered pests are currently, so here's an overview on why people are saying this and what's going on.

EDIT: Skipping pest cooldowns has been fixed. Flies still drop too much wheat though.

What's wrong?

There are two major problems with pest drops currently:

1. You can easily skip the 5 minute pest spawn cooldown (which is bug abusing, don't do it)
   UPDATE: The Pest cooldown exploit got fixed 12 days after this announcement.
2. Fly pests drop way too much wheat

If you put these together you can get 2m+ wheat contest scores by killing fly pests during a contest.

Why wheat?

If you're confused why this only really affects wheat, it's because Fly pests drop enchanted haybales and tightly-tied haybales, which both contain way more items than their counterparts for other crops. I use potato below as an example.

Enchanted Potato = 160 potatoes

Enchanted Hay Bale = 9 wheat * 144 = 1,296 wheat

Enchanted Baked Potato = 160 potatoes * 160 = 25,600 potatoes

Tightly-Tied Hay Bales = 9 wheat * 144 * 144 = 186,624 wheat

Why does this matter?

You can now get more wheat by farming a different crop and collecting fly pests, which brings your coins per hour from NPC to somewhere around 25-35 million. Bug abusers can potentially get up to 100 million coins an hour. If you don't think that's broken then I don't know how else to convince you.

What Now?

Hypixel should change fly pests to drop a reasonable amount of wheat, and patch the bug that allows people to skip the pest spawning cooldown. If you have any admin contacts you should (respectfully) ask that they look into this (actual bug reports have been made already).
