Farming has just been updated! There are huge changes that will impact how players farm in the Garden from now on.

New Pest System

Pests are mobs that spawn on your garden while you farm, and also slowly overtime when you're offline. There's a max of 8 pests on your garden at once, and you'll need to clear them out before resuming farming.

When pests are spawned on your garden, they reduce your farming fortune by the following amounts:

• 0 - 3 pests: No effect
• 4 pests: -5% FF
• 5 pests: -15% FF
• 6 pests: -30% FF
• 7 pests: -50% FF
• 8 pests: -75% FF

Update: Every additional 100 Bonus Pest Chance stat you have increases the amount of pests you can have spawned with no effect by 1!

Pest Drops

So, what's the benefit of pests? They drop a lot of crops. Every time you vacuum one you'll get an amount of the respective enchanted crops associated with that pest, scaled by your fortune. There are also rare drops that drop depending on your fortune too. A deeper analysis/calculator on profit per hour with pest farming may be coming eventually, so keep an eye out!

Right now, Slug pests are the most profitable, as they have a rare Slug Pet drop, which you can sell to the George NPC for coins. Beetle can be good too, but it's dependent on how much the Pesterminator I book is selling for on the bazaar at any given time.

New Jacob Medals

Jacob Contests now have Platinum and Diamond brackets! Unlike the bronze, silver, and gold from before, these brackets don't have their medal as a "currency" that you can spend with Anita. Instead, placing in Diamond rewards you with a gold medal and a silver medal, while a Platinum placement rewards you with a gold and a bronze.

• Harvest Harbinger Potion
• • Level 5 gives +25 general fortune
• Vacuum weapons
• Emptying your bag gives "bonus" fortune for 30 minutes when traded into Phillip
• • 1 pest = +10 farming fortune, up to 40 pests
• Maxed out Vacuum gives +12 general fortune during Spring, amongst other perks
• Anita's Artifact Accessory
• • Maxes at rare, gives +25 fortune only for 1 crop per Jacob Contest for the duration
• • Lower tiers exist!

• • Mythic
• • +1 general fortune from green thumb
• Personal Best Jacob Scores
• Reaching new PBs in contests gives you bonus crop specific fortune
• • Ex: PB of 1.9m melon in a contest grants 38.09 melon fortune (+0.1 per 5,000 collection for melon)
• Pesterminator Armor Enchant
• • Level 5 grants +5 general fortune
• Sunder 6
• • +75 farming fortune for axes (compared to 62.5 at level 5)

As a side note, beds no longer work in the Garden, if you weren't aware, bed farms would be used to change your spawn point on every lane as a sort of bad teleporter pad. Removing this functionality is good thing and should help prevent cheaters.
